Unit 4

In unit 4 of chemistry we will learn about compound formation using ionic, metallic, and covalent bonds. Students will use models to build all bond types. We will look at the characteristics of bonding, how to write formulas, and how to name compounds. Students will also investigate the physical and chemical properties associated with each type of bond and how these bonds types impact their lives. Students will investigate water and dissolved ion, produce a metallic alloy, determine the type of bond of four unknown and predict one unknown to make a glaze for clay pots.
