Welcome to the home of the Eau Claire Champions!

(AKA The ECASD High School Special Olympics Team)

Head Coach: Stephanie Travis - Email

Special Olympics Coordinator: Todd LaValley

Special Olympics Mission:
Through year-around sports training and athletic competition Special Olympics builds self-esteem, fosters courage, and teaches valuable lessons about striving, winning, losing, and trying again. Athletes with cognitive disabilities, age eight to eighty, participate in Olympic-type sports. The athletes are given the continuing opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and experience joy. Here, they find a place of acceptance, friendship, respect, and belonging.

Special Olympics Athlete Oath:
“Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”

Who is Eligible to Participate?:
Any high school student in the Eau Claire Area School District who receives services in a cognitive disabilities program. If you are interested in participating and unsure if you are eligible, just ask your teacher!
