Following World War II, the United States experienced a very happy & prosperous decade as production of consumer products resumed & many had money to spend from savings during the war.  Despite the happiness of the times, the world plunged into a Cold War as the 2 world powers following World War II, the United States & the Soviet Union, became bitter enemies for the next 4 decades.  The 1950's faced political conflict in the rebuilding of the world following World War II, a crisis in Berlin, a war in Korea, the race to space, & a race to build the most destructive weapons.  The unit will wrap up with the election of John F. Kennedy & the hopes he brought to the country as he entered the White House.
