The 1940's:

World War II

Remnants of World War I & the difficulties of the 1930's brought the rise of dictators & international conflict.  Germany, Italy, & Japan sought to rise into powerful empires through expansion & war while others sought to preserve democracy & freedom.  The world will see a war so deep, destructive, & consuming that no one could have ever imagined happening after the Great War only 2 decades before.  The war will reach civilians through bombins & war production & the world would witness one of the most horrific events in history.
