Technology for Instruction

The Technology Department provides leadership across the District for a wide range of technology-related initiatives. Our team collaborates to develop, lead, and facilitate staff development, in-service training, and the management and implementation of complex technology projects that support the District’s goals and priorities.

Department Responsibilities

The Technology Services department offers district-wide support for both instructional and administrative technology. A dedicated team of 40 staff members oversees the 1:1 device program, which includes Apple iPads for students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade and Dell laptops for students in Sixth through Twelfth Grade, as well as all staff members.

Services We Provide

The department provides the following services to the district:

Assists instructional staff in the integration of technology into student learning experiences.
Manages Student Data Privacy Agreements with technology providers.
Facilitates cybersecurity and phishing training for all staff.
Provides staff development in technology use and integration.
Collaborates with the District Technology Specialists to support teacher and classroom learning technologies and professional development in technology.
Manages e-mail system, student information system, financial and employee information system, library system, phone system and learning management systems.
Manages wired and wireless LAN (local area networks), WAN (wide area network) and Internet connectivity.
Manages servers, databases, and data backup and retention.
Supplies, maintains, and updates computer hardware and software.

Building-Level Technology Support

New Accounts

Technology accounts are created via a semi-automated process for new staff once Human Resources department finalizes their onboarding. This means that employees must be marked as "active" in the HR system and have a pay assignment to trigger the account creation. Because of nightly sync processes, it can take up to 5 days for all new technology accounts to be set up and a device prepared for a new employee. System access is granted based on an employee's role. If you and your supervisor believe you do not have access to necessary accounts/doors by day 5 of employment, contact our IT411 Helpdesk.

Student accounts are created automatically when their enrollment process has been completed with the District and in Skyward, our Student Information System (SIS).
