National Junior Honor Society

For 8th Grade Students – No Fee

The purposes of the NJHS are to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render services, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage citizenship in students of South Middle School. Membership is an honor bestowed upon a student. Selection for membership is based on outstanding academics, character, leadership, service and citizenship.

To be eligible for membership, the candidate must be enrolled as a member of the South 8th grade class. Candidates must have a cumulative scholastic average of at least a 3.75 (on a 4.0 scale) or the equivalent standard of excellence. Students who qualify academically and wish to be considered for NJHS must attend meetings, complete the required service hours, and recommendation requirements.
