  • April 8th:
    Students will draw their barn and landscape details with pencil.
    Students can trace their landscape with sharpie and erase their pencil marks.
    April 15th:
    Students will finish tracing with sharpie and erase pencil marks.
    Students will begin to watercolor.
    April 22nd:
    Students will finish adding watercolor to their barn paper.
    An introduction to your farm animal supplies video.
    Students will begin animal directed drawing videos: cow, chicken, pig, and horse.
    April 29th:

    First Grade: Vincent van Gogh Flower Vase

  • April 8th:
    An introduction to van Gogh video.
    Begin drawing your flower vase.
    Add stems, flowers, and “bubble” do your drawing.
    April 15th:
    Finish drawing your flowers with pencil.
    WATERCOLOR your three big spaces video.

    Outline your flower vase painting with a crayon.

    Second Grade: Heather Galler Still Life

  • April 8th:
    An introduction to Folk Artist, Heather Galler and begin drawing your flower vase and animal video.
    Time lapse video.
    April 15th:
    Finish drawing with pencil (refer to videos from last week).
    Sharpie outline and then erase pencil marks.
    Begin adding watercolor.
    April 22nd:
    Continue adding watercolor (refer to video from last week).
    April 29th:
    Add crayon or colored pencil lines throughout your painting.

     

    Third Grade: Mary Blair-It's A Small World

  • April 8th:
    Students will continue their sketches that they started on Tuesday (during library). FIRST, there are two videos they can find in their Canvas module about Mary Blair’s involvement with “It’s A Small World”. The direct links are here:

    Students can submit a photo of their sketches on Canvas when their class is done today. It’s ok if they don’t finish, I just want to see their progress.
    April 15th - April 29th:
    Students will work on their Mary Blair project. They can access their instructions through their Canvas module. If we need one more class time after the 29th, we can take it.

     

    Fourth Grade: Cardboard Weaving

  • April 8th:
    Students will begin weaving using yarn. Please follow along with their Canvas module. Remind them to show patience and to keep trying. If you need more colors, just let me know and I’ll prep those for you for next week.
    April 15th and 22nd:
    Continue Weaving.
    April 29th:
    Create your Kente pouch by following the Canvas module videos.
    Upload a photo of your pouch to your Canvas assignment.

     

    Fifth Grade: Radial Symmetry Origami Design

  • April 8th:
    Students can follow along on canvas for their origami module. Students will be receiving a 12x12 black piece of paper and various 3x3 colored papers of their choosing. They will be learning about Mandala designs and different origami paper folds. As the navigate through their module they may need help learning the folds. This week, students will just begin paper folding and can keep their folded papers in their sketchbook zip-lock baggie.
    April 15th:
    Students will continue folding. Students will need a lot of papers to make up their final design. They should use today to continue folding. Refer to videos in the module for reminders on how to create each fold.
    April 22nd:
    Students may finish up folding today and be ready to start planning out their radial design. Students can continue to follow along with their Canvas module.
    April 29th:
    Students should assemble their radial design and upload a photo. We will be moving onto a new project next week.

March 1: Students will learn about Henri Rousseau. Here’s a fun introduction video about who he was and what he painted.
Step 1: Today, students will be given a green piece of paper (9x12) and a white oil pastel. PLEASE write your name on the back with 1-teacher initial. We are going to draw leaves and watercolor. Watch this video for directions on this step.
Students can store their paintings on the drying rack in the hallway. Because we have so many sections of first grade, it’s very important that your teacher’s name is listed on the back with the student’s name.
March 8: Students will be working on their Henri Rousseau inspired junglescape.
Step 2: Students will add sharpie lines to their watercolor paintings from last week. Watch this video.
Step 3: Students will be designing a repeated line pattern on a larger white piece of paper (11x14). Watch this video to see how students should decorate their background paper.

February 11- March 16: Students will learn about engineering and urban planning. They will follow along with their Futuristic City Module on Canvas.

Kindergarten Art

February 4 and 8: Students will learn about what an architect is. Watch this video first. 
Students will be drawing a cityscape with sharpie (students write their names on the back of their paper with pencil, followed by K-teacher initial).

Fifth Grade Art: 
  • February 18: Students will be learning about the story of Chinese New Year. After watching the video in their module, students will sketch small doodles in their sketchbooks related to three packets listed on their page.
    February 22: Due to our cold day last week, students in Cohort A will be finishing up their Fauve landscapes today, uploading their photo to Canvas and can move forward in the Chinese New Year sketching activity in their module.
