Principal's Welcome

Husky Families,

As we enter the final stretch of the first quarter, I want to take a moment to introduce myself as the Interim Principal at North High School. Although I’m new to the North Principal position, I know all about Husky Pride. I am a proud North graduate and am also a North parent, having 2017, 2020 and 2022 graduates. My fourth child will graduate from North in 2025.  Prior to coming to North, I was the Executive Director of Administration, a principal, and a teacher in the Eau Claire Area School District. I’ve learned so much from the students, families, and staff since coming to North in April and am excited about moving the school forward together.

The 2023-24 is off to a great start. Students and staff have focused on making connections and attending class. Our goal is for all students to be in class 95% of the time.  This is the equivalent of missing approximately 1 full day per month or 9 days during the school year.  Some families have asked why we’ve placed so much focus on attendance. The answer is because research shows that attendance matters.  Look at these quick facts from the Education Advisory Board:

Students who miss 2 or more days a month in high school are 7 times more likely to drop out by senior year.

  • Students who miss 10 days by December are more likely to fail at least one class.

  • Almost 90% of students that miss 15 days a year in high school drop out of college.

We want all Huskies to graduate on time and be successful in the community, at college, and in their career. We will continue to support students to develop the knowledge, skills, and habits needed for success, and look forward to partnering with you to make that happen.

Kind regards,
