National Honor Society

NHS is a select group of students who have earned a cummulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and have demonstrated the qualities of leadership, character, service, and scholar.  Students who wish to be part of NHS must submit a formal application letter and resume to a faculty review committee during the second semester of their sophomore or junior year.  Membership is subject to faculty review and NHS membership requirements.  All members must meet Memorial NHS service hour and meeting requirements to retain membership.

Attention Sophomore and Junior Students With a GPA of 3.5 and Above:
NHS Application forms will be available 2nd semester. Watch for details and adhere to the deadline as NO late applications are accepted. Application forms are available for pickup from advisor and can be printed from the Memorial High School National Honor Society main webpage. Please follow application instructions carefully. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by mid March and will be inducted later in the spring semester. All new members will have to meet NHS service hour (5 hrs.) and meeting requirements (50%) for 4th quarter.  

Meeting Dates

  • Due to the Pandemic, NHS is not having in person meetings. We are using a Canvas page to communicate the various opportunities to earn volunteer hours and to share information. For safety purposes, nearly all of the hours NHS will offer will be for donating food or other items. We will sponsor at least two different drives this Spring in order to provide volunteer opportunities. 
  • In a typical year, meetings are held every other Wednesday
  • Please check your school email and the NHS Canvas page for current volunteer service opportunites.  Contact information is avaiable in both locations.
