National Junior Honor Society

Ms. Angie Nijhawan

For 8th Grade Students – No Fee

The purposes of the NJHS are to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render services, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage citizenship in students at DeLong Middle School. Membership is an honor bestowed upon a student. Selection for membership is by a majority vote of the faculty council and is based on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, service, and citizenship. To be eligible for membership the candidate must be enrolled as a member of the DeLong 8th grade class. Candidates must have attended DeLong for at least one semester. Candidates must have a cumulative scholastic average of at least a 3.75 (on a 4.0 scale) or the equivalent standard of excellence. Students who qualify academically and wish to be considered for NJHS must complete an application, which can be downloaded below. If you are unable to download and print an application at home, you can pick one up from room 2136. Applications are due by Friday, April 16th, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. Please turn them in at the principal's office. See Mrs. Nijhawan, the DMS NJHS Chapter Advisor, in room 2136 for further information.
