About Our School

Longfellow's Mission:  At Longfellow, we prepare ALL students today for success tomorrow.

Longfellow Elementary School is located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The foundation of Longfellow is built on a rich history of tradition and reflects the cultural and economic diversity of the neighborhood community. We serve over 250 students in Kindergarten through fifth grade. The programs offered at Longfellow reflect the needs of the learners and include small class sizes, reading and math specialist support, collaboration with community partners, and extended day and summer programming.

We are extremely proud to be recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as a Wisconsin School of Promise nine of the last eleven years. The state recognizes schools that serve families in poverty and that have high achievement. Longfellow’s success is a tribute to its committed staff, effective use of available resources, and community connections. We all feel fortunate to work with such wonderful students and families. Please feel free to contact me for more information about the fantastic Longfellow community.

Dual Immersion Program

Longfellow is home to ECASD's Dual Immersion Program which was launched in the fall of 2019. The program allows students to take part in a truly global learning experience. As they increase their English and Spanish language skills, they also learn about people, cultures and societies around the world. The program features classes with 12 students whose first language is Spanish, along with 12 students whose first language is not Spanish. Students engage in instruction and learning that is half Spanish and half English throughout the school year. Students expand their literacy skills in two languages as they engage in ECASD’s core curriculum for grades K-5. Families wishing to be apart of the program can enter the Dual Immersion lottery.
