Bring Back the Summer Community Learning Center
Educational gains at Longfellow are significant thanks to our dedicated staff, committed parents, and the Longfellow’s Community Learning Community (CLC) program. CLC provides invaluable educational, social, and emotional support to our children and their families. Year round programming ensures that gains made during the school are maintained over the summer.
Children learn best when they study and play year round. After six successful summers we lost CLC summer funding forcing us to suspend the program. Eau Claire Parks & Rec. also faced funding cuts and no longer offers programming at McDonough Park (our local park). Currently there are no supervised summer options for kids in our neighborhood. Help us bring back our summer CLC to keep our kids engaged, fed, and safe.
$50 will support one child, $500 will support 10 children / $15,000
Helping Hands Fund
85% of our Longfellow families live in poverty and struggle to provide basic items for their children. The Helping Hands Fund provides these needy students essentials such as shoes, coats, hats, mittens, and gloves. Helping Hands also provides funds for needy students to participate in special non-athletic programs and field trips.
$100 will support one child for one year / $3,000
A concerned community member started the Warm Our Longfellow Feet program (WOLF) two years ago to provide wool socks for Longfellow students. Each student receives one pair of wool socks once the weather turns cold.
$30 supports 10 students / $1,000
